MEMORY SWAPPING: Changing internal SD to external SD (Works for all funbooks)

Important notice:
* You will need a rooted device for this. For rooting process check out my previous post.


Things to download before you start :

~ Rooted funbook
~ ES File explorer (download it from Playstore) or get it from here  http://adf.ly/Hija8

Steps to swap:
  1. Open ES File Explorer and tap on option ( three dots vertically in the bottom).
  2. Select settings.
  3. Go to "Root settings" option.
  4. Tick all the five option there and come back to the SDcard area.
  5. Tap the "up" option once ( its on the upper portion of screen).
  6. Go to "system".
  7. Go to "etc" and then tap the option "vold.fstab".
  8. Open as "text" and then choose "ES Note Editor".
  9. Scroll to this line => #dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/virtual/block/nandj and replace it with=> #dev_mount sdcard /mnt/extsd auto /devices/virtual/block/nandj  
  10. Go to the next line.
  11. Replace the Second sdcard with extsd in this line too like the first one.
  12. Below that, replace extsd with sdcard
  13. It will look like this => 
  14. After doing it, tap back, save and reboot your device.
  15. Now you can store everything in externalSD. So enjoy the large storage!!! :D

    in micromax funbook alpha there are only 3 option can enabled out of 5 in root setings.So that edited file didn't save..so help me out plz.

      At first root your funbook alpha and then you can follow this procedure.

    after i did this activity completely as mentioned.. & restarted it is not loading instead getting stuck at funbook logo running unendingly.:(

      Yes.. it was inserted .. 8GB Sandisk
      are we here just swapping the memory mounting & still the tablet boots from its specified boot memory?
      Because do we have to copy some system files into SDcard?

      The boot memory is in the internal memory after restart all the system file are transferred to the SD card from the internal SD

    Bro after editing vold.fstab as shown in instruction...I restarted my funbook...its not booting its showing the mmx logo n not proceeding further...
    When I connected my tab to the pc its working...but as soon as I remove the usb its switching off...when I checked file manager my internal as become external... but am facing this problem...so I edited my vold.fstab as it was before in funbook...n restarted but nothing changed...so I did a factory reset n nw the internal n external is empty ...did I brick my tab? ... can anyone help me pls :( :(

      Hey, I got a solution to infinitely running funbook logo...
      after u have this problem, connect ur funbook infinity to computer and hope it starts.
      1)Restore all the words u changed in "volb.fstab"
      2)You will either have the message in notification corner that it is connected as usb installer or usb storage. Click on that notification and you will be directed to the page "CONNECT AS". What i did was i selected "media device (MTP)" instead of the already selected "USB mass storage"
      Then it restarts and is back to normal.

    No man u did it correctly -.- Even if tab if fully charged, after this reboot it will show drained battery. All u had to do was to just fully charge ur tab again. That's it
    The same thing happened to me

      Switch it off and fully charge it for about 3-4 hours then it'll work flawlessly :>

      Dude when I plug my charger its showing the boot screen n not proceeding ...(normally when the tab is switched off n connected with a charger a big battery symbol shows but that's not happening)..nw even if I connect 2 pc its not Booting bro its shows oly the logo n hangs there...n in the pc it detects as mtp drivers detected. .. dude can u give me the link for funbook infinity firmware...so I could flash it with it...n will clean ics rom work on infinity...I saw in a website. They r flashing p300 n p350 with clean ics...ll it work for infinity too...can u guide me in flashing or provide me a link? .. I don wanna visit the mmx service center bcoz some r telling it would take minimum 2 months for them 2 repair any mmx products

      Dude, the same happened to me. The internal storage shows 0mb. The device is working all fine but the 0mb thing is starting to bother me now. It was all fine till I tried the SWAP tweak. Tried Unrooting, factory reset, re-rooting. But nothing helped. I even turned off the device and charged it till it showes Battery Full. But internal storage still stuck at 0mb. Also at every restart I am getting the Welcome Screen requesting to fill the account details and stuff. Like literally! EVERY DARN TIME. Help much appreciated. Thanks mate. God Bless

      Just make sure that u have a rooted device, installed infinity drivers on PC and have recharged the battery
      Many people have tried this out and it works

    Hello , I have followed these steps on my micomax infinity. After rebooting I tried to install application, its is saying low memory. I have lot of memory in my external sd card!!! still it is trying to install on original internal sd???

    hi bikram, i have idea 3G netsetter-huawei E1732(e173Du-1), i wanna purchase this tab micromax funbook infinity but i heard that this tab only supports tata photon plus and it doesnt supports other dongles and when other dongles r connected then it hangs. is it true? what dongle u r using? how to use other dongles on micromax funbook infinity? please explain in step by step process..is there any custom rom available for micromax funbook infinity ?..thanks

    micromax funbook infinity doesnt supporting other dongles, it only supports tata photon plus dongle, tab is hanging when other dongle is connected.

      CWM was not needed :/ maybe because of that, otherwise there would have been some probs during the rooting process

    guys, micromax funbook infinity p275 production has been stopped and tacken back from the marcket by the company. this tab is not available in any store and not available in online also. i went to many stores and asked for this tab, they said this tab production stopped and tacken back from marcket.

    Is it that, my SD card must be blank. ? As i have already done few back ups of applications on the SD card by changing the home directory settings and download path and bluetoothshared folder primary is kept as extsd.

    dude its true external sd card becomes ur internal memory expandable upto 32gb but the funbooks internal 2gb becomes external and unaccesable shows damaged internal 2gb is wasted man

    Hey earlier when i swapped memory it worked fine
    But now when i did it again following things are going wrong..
    1) When i open super hd player it says no external storage found
    2) I cannot download any file using browser (System's browser,Opera).
    3) I cannot load profile pic or any post in my social network(whatsapp, facebook)
    Basically its a matter of external storage not mounting properly
    can anyone here will help me ???
